World Cup Finals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Over 30 AEM-equipped racers from all over the USA and Canada competed across 7 classes, PureEvil Fox Body Mustang Resets All-Motor Coyote Record in Qualifying

HAWTHORNE, CA –The action at the 2019 Haltech World Cup Finals was intense, and AEM-equipped racers were representing in force in one of the most anticipated heads-up races of the year.

St. Louis, Missouri native Tony Hobson’s freshly redone ProCharger-equipped, SBF-powered Mustang rolled off the trailer and into qualifying at low 7-ohs in the X275 vs. Hot Rod class, and it didn’t take long for JPC Racing’s Eric Holliday and crew to make adjustments to earn a #7 qualifying spot in the 16 car field with a 6.83 @ 181 MPH. Tony continued to improve each round, getting his best ET in the finals with a 6.73 @ 195.19 MPH where he took the class win.

West Coast team TB Motorworx from Lemon Grove, CA qualified 4th with a 9.279 @ 151 MPH in their Honda B-Series powered Integra in the hotly contested, 32-car-field All Motor Class. After posting his best ET of the event in the first round (8.97 @ 158 MPH), Awaeis Adde of TB Motorworx followed up that blast with an 8.75 @ 162 MPH in round 4, ultimately facing off against Teddy Weaver and his AEM-equipped 01 Ford Mustang in the finals. Weaver, who is usually deadly consistent, rolled the beams and red-lighted, allowing Adde to coast to a win in the finals.

The Super Street class again brought the heat this year, with a mere 0.699 seconds separating the #1 qualifier from the #32 qualifier in the field. At # 11 sat Landrienna, Quebec Canada’s Patrick Pelchat with an 8.167 @ 166 MPH in his 2JZ-powered, MKIII Toyota Supra. Patrick worked the ladder with consistency and earned a couple of free passes in rounds 3 and 4, beating Jason Hunt through the traps in the finals with an 8.356 @ 166.89 MPH despite getting the automatic win when Hunt red lighted.

Another notable mention is that New York native Michael Washington reset the Ford Coyote All-Motor ET record in qualifying for the True Street class with an 8.594 @ 152.88 MPH in his aptly-named PureEvil Fox-Body Mustang. This car was the first 8-second all-motor Coyote and is poised to be the first to go sub 8.50s. Washington commented that the team relies heavily on the data they get from their AEM Electronics products to make adjustments.

Congrats to all of the AEM-equipped racers who made the cut to compete at WCF 2019, and to those who won! AEM is proud to be a part of your accomplishments and appreciates you trusting our products in your builds.
