J35a Timing/ Ignition Sync

Hello AEM,

Curious, I am in the process of programming my infinity 506 for my J35a1, so far everything is going well. Just finished syncing my timing, is it abnormal to have to adjust the advance sync 43.0 degrees to get it to hit the 10.0 degree when locked? The pickup delay value is set at 50. Timing seems solid and not jumping around while cranking.

2nd question: why do I have to reselect and save the 12 crank mag & 1 cam mag sensor after doing the sync and then I loose the sync adjustments that I listed above?

thanks sorry if these are stupid questions.

There's no selection in the

There's no selection in the wizard for a J35 so I'm guessing you picked Honda Distributor which is intended for B & D motors. I'm guessing the difference in timing comes from the fact that the sync values were based on 4 cylinder engines, not 6.

The wizard behavior has been covered many times before.  Give this a read: https://www.aemelectronics.com/forum/camcrank-selection

Ok so same story. Generic has

Ok so same story. Generic has no base timing value so you have to sync the timing per application. Timing sync could have been anything from 0-720° so yeah, 43° is totally reasonable.

Other thread explains that Cam Sync Adjustment should be used for coarse tooth timing adjustments and Trigger Offset should be used for fine degree adjustments <number of degrees between teeth.

Awesome, thank you sir. So far everything is going really well setting up the infinity, ran the dianogstics while cranking, shows 100% probability to start. Should be lighting the candle soon.

my second question disregard, after researching the forum I found my answer. Im sure I'll have few more later thanks again for responding and providing an awesome product.
