30-6030 VTC question

I am fitting a 30-6030 ECU to a japanese model K24 Honda Accord Euro (2004).. Which ECU pin should I use for the VTC oil solenoid, as the instructions show both pin B1 and B23 for this function. Are they both the same?

If you read the manual, it says that bin B23 is used as the i-vtec output, but as you have pointed out, this is a switched gnd, where pin B1 is a highside output. That's why I am asking the question, as there is some confusion between the txt and the pinout......

there is no confusion, the VTC sol need power and gnd to operate, u wouldnt think the sol only need gnd to work?

i guess what u need to do is

i guess what u need to do is to do more research and learn how a vtc sol work. read some wiring diagram of how the stock system work and see if you can understand how VTC is controlled under sotck ecu.  there is no magic, just knowledge.

I know how solenoids work.. I am questioning why AEM says use pin B23. 

I'd like to hear from the AEM tech.

For the 6030, "VTEC" is VTEC

For the 6030, "VTEC" is VTEC and "i-VTEC" is what we call VVC or variable valve control.  VTEC is simply hi/lo cam (on/off) and VVC is variable cam angle and is controlled by a variable duty signal.  VTEC solenoids are grounded through their bodies to the cylinder head and only need +12v to trigger.  VVC solenoids are driven by a lowside (ground) PWM signal.

Didn't see that in the instructions I have. The vvc solenoid needs both b1 and b23 connected, I get that now. 

Interestingly, the 2004 accord euro ecu pinout is completely different to the series 2 ems for the same k24a3 motor...

Yeah sorry, I didn't do much to clarify the two pins for VVC.  Yes, the EMS controls both the +12v and the ground signal to the VVC solenoid.  I'm not at all surprised to hear that the pin out is different.  All of the vehicle we do development on are US spec as that's what we have available to us here.  It's very common that Euro, Canadian and Japanese spec cars are different than US spec cars.
