AEM Analog Gauge Face Plate Swap

I watched this video, which was very informative (I like the paper clip trick) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dattNGLqwY

When putting the needle back on, do I need to be aware of the position it was in when I took it off?  In the video, the needle is put back on way differently.  How does the gauge know where the needle is after being removed for accurate measurements?

Make sure to swap over the

Make sure to swap over the needle stopper. When you power cycle the gauge, the needle will sweep and stop against the stopper, telling it where its supposed to be.

Ah, that makes sense.  Very cool.  I had your digital gauge on my turbo Miata for years and it was great.  I've moved on to a ECU-less '72 Nova and having an electric analog seems like it will be much easier to watch while I tune the carburetor.  Thanks for the quick answer.

What is the needle doing when

What is the needle doing when powered up? Is it getting to a certain point and stopping? If this is the case it may be hanging up on the front clear plastic or pushed too far in where it is contacting the face plate and stopping.

I agree that it could be

I agree that it could be hanging up on the clear plastic. Can you take a video of the gauge powering up?
