Audi TT DBW set up error [resolved]

Doing an Infinity install/start up on a 2000 TT, everything has gone smooth except the DBW. I go throught the setup steps and get an error every time on the last step. the error reads "Throttle Body 1: Error, the throttle body signal did not change (changed less then .5v) "I choose the vw throttle assembly assuming its the same, i also tried it as custom. Throughout the set up the throttle blade never moves. I checked all 6 wires on the throttle body and every thing seems to be wired correctly all the way through to the 80 pin infinity connector.

This is the first DBW setup I've done so i'am Just wondering if there is something I am missing.

Did you start by loading the 1.8T base cal?  If you load that base cal, the throttle should just work right off the bat - does it?  Do you hear a high pitched hum coming from the TB when the ignition switch is turned on?

Yeah, started by just loading

Yeah, started by just loading the 1.8t base session. Got everything set up and tried to start but sync state was at 0 and start probability was 0%. So I started trouble shooting, rotated the motor  by hand to check timing with timing light but ign wasn't firing so I kept looking and found the throttle wasn't opening with pedal movment. I can see the app channels working fine when the pedal moves. Also if I reach in and move the blade by hand I can see the 2 tps channels moving properly. The throttle never moves when the pedal is pressed. The car was driven into the garage so we know it was in working order when the stock ecu was removed.

Your 2000 TT is outside the

Your 2000 TT is outside the specified supported vehicles for the 1.8t app (which is specifically for 03-05 AWP cars) so there's definitely the possibility of differences between your car and what we built the kit to.  Not getting Sync State to turn on has nothing to do with the throttle working or not and the fact that it ran on the stock ECU doesn't mean anything either.  Do you know what the cam trigger wheel is on this motor?

Yes this car is outside the

Yes this car is outside the supported vehicles, its an ATC car which looks to be kind of a bastard its even different than the 2001 cars. It still uses the same crank and cam sensors, 60-2 trigger wheel and VR sensor for crank and 4 tooth with hall sensor for cam but doesnt have VVT. The main differences are in the engine wire harness.  After chasing a lot of wires and a lot of reading we found that the Infinity pin C1-63/Audi tt ecu pin 121 (Main relay power input) wasn't getting 12v. Turns out that is one of the wiring differences on the ATC cars. So we ran 12v fused power to C1-63 and everything started working. Got the car started and idling. Im guessing the permenent 12v on C1-10 was powering all the 5v sensors etc since I could see all of them functioning.

Yes, that's correct - the 5v

Yes, that's correct - the 5v regulator is powered by perm power.  Glad that you took the time to sort this out and got it running.

I think I have this exact same issue running the Infinity 8H on a 2001 Audi TT.

The throttle body appears to never open even slightly with the key in the ON position or with engine starting. The car will fire and run if I put starting fluid in it and take the throttle body off.

All injectors are firing but I think the throttle plate is being held shut. I can hear the throttle body making the whining noise with the key in the ON position but it never comes to a resting position before start up.

You'll need to check the same

You'll need to check the same thing the OP did and see if you're getting 12v to pin C1-63 or not.
