Boost Control and WM Activation on EMS-4

Hi All,

I have some question on the Boost control function of the EMS-4. The below are what i want to achieve. p.s. I have hooked up an AEM Boost control solenoid to GPIO 8.

I want the car can run with Low/Hi boost

I will let the boost run as per the actuator preset 0.4Bar/6psi, set the boost map at all "0" and tune the fuel and ign map accordingly.

For Hi boost i aimed to run 10psi. I guess i have to add a flip switch and trigger the EMS-4 to run another boost switch input map for the high boost. Is it the below what i have to setup the flip switch up?

  1. 12V power to flip switch then to GPIO X
  2. Define "Switch 7" with GPIO X Voltage
  3. Define "Boost Switch Input" as "Switch 7 On" or skip step two and define "GPIO X 12V=On"
  4. Define "Boost Switch Target" as 10psi

Are the above setup correct???

Tunning procedure..

  1. Set WG duty as 0 all around, tune the fuel and ign for the low boost setup
  2. Set WG duty, do power runs until achieving 10psi (in this case), and fix the fuel and ign map.
  3. Go back and set WG duty map as all 0% do a power pull
  4.  Switch on the flip switch and do a power run see whether the boost switch is triggered and reaching the boost switch target

Am i understood the mechanism correctly? please kindly help and discuss. Thanks~!

I guess i can hook the AEM Water/Methanol injection controller to the same flip switch and let the injection and high boost activating together right?

The idea is possible however the way you want to implement is incorrect. Set up your boost tables and tune it for whatever output you are looking to achieve (10 PSI). Use the "Boost switch Target" to revert back to wastegate pressure. If you would like to apply water meth with the increased boost, use a spare GPIO and set the minimum settings to recognize your high boost setting which will activate it as soon as you turn off your boost switch target and allow the unit to achieve 10psi over the low 6psi setting. Your water meth can be triggered to come on at anything above 6psi which would make it automated.

Alright, so my understanding

Alright, so my understanding now is

Tune the car to 10 psi, setup the Flip Switch trigger amd Bosst Switch Target to 6psi.

When the flip switch is on, the system pull back the max boost to 6psi. Switch off then go 10psi.

Water Meth directly get the signal from the MAP sensor, and set activation when boost over 6psi through the controller itself.

Correct?

the wire from controller (I bought 3350) to activate solenoid also can be used to hook up to ECU the same time?(1 wire going to solenoid, and tapped wire going to ECU to activate secondary map which run less fuel and more advanced ignition timing.) 

Instead of using safe switch output ground to read fuel map which has more fuel and retard ignition timing(in case the controller doesn't have power )
