Is the garmin gps 18X 5hz unit still the best unit to use with the AQ1?  If so, what is the best way to wire it in?

Cheers

Thanks,

Thanks,

There is no wiring relating to the 18X 5hz (only the 18X PC).  I believe it is a 5Vdc device where the standard 18X PC is 12Vdc.  Can I use the sensor 5v output from the AQ1?

Cheers

I'll get you the information

I'll get you the information tonight since I'm using the same Garmin 5Hz GPS.

High level:

Replaced the 9 pin with a 4 pin DTM

Pulled power from the AEMNet connector - not using it

Yes, 5v is okay to use.  It's been a few years since I wired mine up but I remember having to connect the tx output to the rx input on the AQ-1.  Same thing for rx - it connects to tx on the AQ-1.

Thanks guys.

Thanks guys.

I currently have the Garmin 1hz model and find the speed channel a bit to slow on its updates when loggging.  I have read a post that someone is using a 10hz GPS. I'm hoping the 5Hz model should be suffice for my needs. (260Kmph)

Also, I cant seem to get the gps speed channel to log in Kph (only Mph).

Cheers
