Problems sending new calibration... sometimes.

I tune my car on a dyno going steady state in different RPM'S and just +/- the cells. This has worked pretty good so far for cruise tuning. Afterwards I clean up the spikey looking fuel map. Then when I get back into the car I load the adjusted map. But on 3 different occasions now the map sends just fine, but ALL my break points will read 0. Other things will be messes up too like sensor calibrations will be reset, or un-set. Then when trying to connect again, it will not recognize the ecu. Leaving me to load another older map setting me back a few days in some cases. Is this a common occurrence? Is there something I could be doing wrong? Now that I want to start recording logs and changing them offline, I'm worried I will be constantly fighting this problem. Loosing updated tunes only to have to do it all over again.

Years ago i had a lot of

Years ago i had a lot of trouble like this. I had to this weird situation where sometimes after doing some tuning tweaks and saving, some weird glitch would cause a nasty downward spike to appear on my boost comp map right at 10 psi. I didnt even have to touch the map for it to happen, and usually wouldn't notice it was there until I took the car out and nailed it, only to find it going full lean at 10 psi. I eventually blew that engine from these spikes constantly appearing and causing engine knock

What I found that somewhat remedied the problem was switching to a newer laptop, my old one had some connection issues and corrupt log file issues as well, so I assume that all these problems were all linked to some issue with the usb/serial ports on it, whether it was software or hardware I have no idea. The problem is not gone entirely, but the frequency of its occurrence has been drastically reduced.

Well... it is a new lap top.

Well... it is a new lap top. Only a few months old. But it's not what you would call top quality. I have another one. I can try using that one for a little while and see if it still happens.

In my experience it's almost

In my experience it's almost always an adapter cable causing connection or transfer issues. I refurbed an old laptop with a serial port for dedicated series 1 use.
