Tach Help

Okay, I need some tach help. I'm hooking up an AEM Series 1 EMS in a Dodge Challenger, and I'm trying to get an external Autometer tachometer (ie - not the factory one in the dash) to work. The pin out for Series 1 shows that the tach output is pin 46, which is labeled LS #7 Tach Output. I hooked up the wire but I'm not getting any readings on my Autometer tach (which is brand new). I called Autometer, and they confirmed the tach signal needs to be a 12 volt square wave. So, do I need to put a 10K 1/4 watt resistor jumper into the tach signal wire to make my tach work, or am I maybe just missing something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
