CAN bus Transmit Capability
Transmit live channel values over user-defined CAN messages from the dash (Able to transmit all “Basic” CAN messages available on the dash. High-complexity data multiplexing, indexed messages, or non-CAN 2.0 standard message formats not supported at this time)
Display Two to Four Screens
CD Carbon Dashes have seven pages (screens), four of which are main screens, that you can toggle between. But not all users need four main screens, so we reduced the number of screens to display on the dash to minimize toggling through screens when you want to use less than the normal 4 pages.
Autocheck for Updates
Starting with DashDesign 2.2, the software now includes a check box to automatically check for updates in DashDesign and update to the latest version if a newer one is available.
Display Simulator with AEMdata playback capability
Users can put their layouts into the simulator and link AEMdata log files to DashDesign to simulate the functionality of the screens (linked logs MUST be AEMdata files). It also provides the ability to monitor and test warning and alarm functionality.
Expanded Sensor Library with predefined sensor calibrations
Sensors in the database are automatically scaled, this feature sets the scalar and offsets automatically
New Tabs make navigating DashDesign easier and more efficient
We have separated the seven major elements of DashDesign into a tabular form to make setup and navigation simpler and faster and added a tab for the simulator:
- Screens Tab – Used to manage screens, create and configure graphical elements. A new menu is added to quickly select, drag and drop gauges, shapes, warnings, images, text and other layout elements
- Channels Tab – Create and configure channels from the CAN stream. All channels from all devices are visible on this tab
- Alarms Tab – Define all of your warnings and alarm channels, and easily assign those channels to the left and right LEDs on the display using checkboxes if desired
- CAN Tab – This is where you import DBC files. This tab also provides a graphical representation of the message structure, which is presented in tabular form to make it easier to visualize the data stream
- Logger Tab – Set your logging channels and rates on this tab
- Setup Tab – Set your shift lights, display brightness, lap timing and more. A new Monitor Channels window allows you to set alarms for channels that are not being displayed or logged
- Graphics Tab – Keeps all of your graphics in one place for easy access, with the ability to preview a graphic before opening it
- Simulator Tab – Simulate your layouts using linked AEMdata log files
Setup Check Feature
The Setup Check feature identifies any issues in your layout when you open it so that you can quickly make the necessary corrections, including errors, warnings, and information. If a warning is triggered by this feature, you can double click on it to take you to that section of your layout and fix it.
Grouping Feature
The Grouping feature provides the ability to make global changes to a layout’s text by grouping them together. Users can select some or all of the text on the page and globally change the colors, fonts, positions, etc.
Global Units Feature
The Global Units feature allows you to set standard or metric units globally – no more conversion channels! By simply clicking an icon in the software, users can now set their unit preference across all of their layouts without having to click each individual channel or use any conversion channels
Screen Import Feature
The Screen Import feature allows you to see your screens before you open them. This feature will import layouts from a user defined folder or location on your computer and has the ability to import every layout in your entire computer (although we don’t recommend this).
Undo Feature (CTRL + Z) and History Window
Easily undo changes to your layout and revert back using the new History window that keeps a running tab of recorded edits that allows you to return back to any given point in the design process.
New Graphics Library
Located in the Graphics Tab, keeps all of your graphics in one location, including icons, so that they are easy to find.
Streamlined OBDII Input Feature
Our improved OBDII Input feature allows you to select the discovered OBDII channels that you want to use prior to importing them into the setup file.
